NPP, NDC sponsors of vigilantism-PPP

The National Youth Coordinator, of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) Divine Nkrumah, has described the two leading political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as sponsors of political vigilantism.

According to him, he’s labeled them as such because they influence and sponsor vigilantes who he insists are thugs.

Mr. Nkrumah was commenting on the call by the President on the two parties to meet and fashion out a way of banning vigilante groups affiliated to them and wondered why the President would not allow the Police to do their work and crack the whip on vigilantes affiliated to the two parties.

“The NPP and NDC are those who sponsor the so-called vigilantes who I call thugs and sponsors are criminals, I mean the NPP and NDC parties are both criminals if you know the criminals who influence and sponsor the thugs and you ask them to sit around a table, have a discussion and come out with a resolution to handle the menace of vigilantism which I call thuggery, it is like tickling yourself and laughing.

“Or you’ve
built a house with sheer butter and you go to commission it, as soon as the sun
shines, the house will melt for you to be disgraced, that’s exactly what the
President has done, the well-built young men who call themselves are thugs and
have no loyalty to the political parties.

“These so-called vigilantes have no loyalty,
they are hired gangs, they offer their services to the highest bidder, they are
not die-hard supporters of any political party. they are criminals, in the
morning and afternoon when you meet them they are land guards, in the evening
they are armed robbers and in the political season, they call themselves
members of a vigilante group.

“I expected the President to fire a warning to the IGP, not to countenance the activities of vigilantes because he said he will not support such criminal acts,” Mr. Nkrumah said. –kasapafmonline.com
